Did You Know that Water is Good for Our Health?
The experts and doctors say that we need to 'drink
enough water' for our health. Is it true
that we can be healthier just by drinking plenty of water? Look at the change
of the woman in the picture. Sarah, 42, was hoping to solve her headache and
poor digestion. Her nutritionists told her to drink up to three liters of
liquid a day for her body to function at its best. Although the only thing she
has changed is the amount of water she drinks, her health problems are solved
and her skin looks brighter and healthier.
EIE Students Do Not \Drink
Recommended Amount of Water
Then what about the EIE students? According to our survey, only 8% of EIE students drink more than 1500 mL (about 7 glasses) a day. 5% only drink a glass of water in a day, 28% drink 1-2 glasses, and also 28% drink 2-3 glasses a day. Students who drink 4-5 glasses of water a day take 18% and 13% drink 5-7 glasses. Why water is important?
There is a relationship
between blood circulation and metabolism. Our body is composed of 72% water. Water
makes up blood which is included in the circulatory system. So, drinking the
ideal amount of water is good for your circulatory system. Blood circulation
conveys essential nutrients and oxygen and takes waste matter and carbon
dioxide from the tissues. And other organs like those in the digestive system
or some of the body’s tissues can work better with adequate oxygen levels.
Sufficient water consumption also
promotes the digestive process. Drinking water helps you break down food so you
can intake foods more easily. Water is also necessary for the disposal of
wastes through perspiration, urine and feces. Additionally, if you drink water
when you have your meal, water can fill your stomach. Since, consuming too much
food is not good for your digestive system, water intake during your meal can
lead you to eat only moderate amounts of food and to have better digestive
ability.
Drinking water is also good for
fatigue recovery. Fatigue
is a subjective feeling of tiredness
which is distinct from weakness, and has a gradual
onset. Blood circulation and metabolism are the things that are highly related
to fatigue. Therefore, as water enhances blood circulation and metabolism, one
will not feel fatigue easily when adequate water has been consumed.
Not only is sufficient water beneficial
for your inner body, it is also helpful for your skin. To maintain your skin
health, it is important to give moisture to your skin. Drinking enough water is
the best way to do it. The positive effect of water in the skin has been proven
by the case of Sarah, who is mentioned in the introduction. Sarah, 42 years
old, started to drink 3L of water a day and her wrinkles disappeared and her
skin tone became cleaner and brighter
How to Drink Water
One thing that most people miss about water
consumption is to drink proper amounts of water several times a day. This habit
helps to balance our bodies. Our bodies need to be in balance so that bodily
functions occur smoothly. If you drink a lot of water at one time, it will
disturb the balance which could adversely affect your health. Consequently,
drink one cup for 8 times per day at even intervals.
To Sum Up
Water makes the circulatory
system active, which in turn facilitates metabolism. Water enables the body to
remove waste matter, and maintain energy levels. Therefore, drink plenty of
water, but do not forget the good drinking habits! Split the amount of water
you will drink and drink slowly.

sufficient water consumption.☺
